Leap Motion Review

Computer usually use keyboard as an input device.  In addition, mouse and touchpad complements the keyboard for additional command.  Nowadays, touch screen is new form of interface.  With these variety of input devices, is there a need for another interface?

Leap Motion is a 3D gesture detection device that could potentially replace typing in the keyboard, clicking of the mouse, and touching the screen.  Microsoft's Kinect uses the similar concept of gesture-computing, but Leap Motions' controller only uses small area to detect the motion.

In summer of 2013, J-tech were able to obtain this device.  Finally, the concept became reality.  With retail sale, this unique device became available in consumer market.  But does it have a practical use?

What is it?

Leap Motion Controller is motion censor for the computer. This includes Windows PC and Apple Mac, like a mini Kinect.  That controller tracks every finger in your hand (All 10 fingers) in 1/100mm accuracy.

If you put in front of the computer, keyboard, or notebook PC, the physical area above will be where your hands are going to be.  This area covers reachable area when you are in front of the computer.
